What is EQZ: Escape?
A top-down zombie car roguelite by XL Projects. You drive one car out of a sealed quarantine zone through three procedurally generated zones, levelling up branching weapon and car-part upgrades while zombies, survivors, raiders and the army try to stop you.
When does it come out?
There's no release date yet. It's coming to Steam, and the Steam page is on its way. Email us if you'd like a heads-up.
What platforms is it on?
PC (Windows), on Steam, first. A version for phones with touch controls is also in the works.
Can I play with a controller?
Yes. Every menu works with a controller, there are twin-stick and racing control styles, every key and button can be remapped, and it shows Xbox or PlayStation button icons to match your pad.
Is there co-op or multiplayer?
No. EQZ: Escape is single-player.
How long is a run?
Driving straight across a zone takes a few minutes; every detour makes it longer and the rewards bigger. The escape run takes one car through all three zones, and there's an endless bonus zone for after you've escaped.
Is it hard?
It's as hard as you push it. The day gets darker the further you drive, and the zombies with it. There are also five severity levels per zone, from Outbreak to Extinction: clear one to unlock the next.
What vehicles are there?
You start in a muscle car and unlock a go-kart, a race car, a motorbike, a tank, a mech with jump-jets and a last stand on foot. Each has its own handling, ability and upgrade trees, and each is unlocked by an achievement.
What accessibility options are there?
Colour-blind filters, reduced flashing, screen shake settings, hold or toggle to fire, aim assist, game speed from 70% to 100%, UI scaling and fully remappable controls.
I'm a journalist or creator. Can I get assets or a key?
The press kit has the trailer, screenshots and logos. For anything else, email xanderleeprojects@outlook.com.
